Responsibilities
- Work with product managers and engineering leads to execute the product roadmap.
- Hire, mentor and guide engineers on the team on technical tasks and career development
- Work with the customer support team to help manage customer escalations
- Have an unwavering commitment to quality deliverables
- Provide technical support to solutions team for pre-sales activities
Ideal Characteristics/Profile
- Bachelor's or Masters degrees in computer science or a related discipline Extensive related work experience is also acceptable
- 10 years experience as a hands-on engineer or leader in large-scale distributed systems
- 3 years experience in a lead/management role for an infrastructure engineering team
- Built and led strong engineering teams in the distributed systems space
- Mentor and motivate team members, along with aiding their growth and advancement
- Exposure to and understanding of open-source projects
- While not limited to specific technologies, some exposure to public / private cloud-based development with the big 3 clouds, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and languages like Node.js, Python, and Golang is desirable
- Technically proficient enough to drive tradeoff evaluations and execution decisions. Dives deep and understands tradeoffs in technology and strategy decisions
- Can manage geographically distributed teams, even with small numbers of individual contributors in different locations
- Strong organizational skills: ability to manage schedule, people and cost / budget

- Exposure to application development in the cloud-native landscape is a bonus
- Entrepreneurial bent - ability to balance growth with development
- Evangelism: interest and ability to be the spokesperson for Platform9 externally
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and the associated ecosystem
- Exposure to serverless and SaaS technologies, particularly within the Kubernetes ecosystem.
